TOP AWARD FROM DAIMLER-CHRYSLER
REHAU WINS GLOBAL SUPPLIER AWARD

REHAU was honoured with one of the most significant prizes for the automotive supply industry at the 100th International Auto Show in Detroit: the Global Supplier Award 2006 from DaimlerChrysler. The company, with headquarters at Rehau in the region of Upper Franconia, received the prize for its internationally outstanding performance as a supplier in the field of exteriors and is thereby one of the six most successful suppliers world-wide of the German/American automotive manufacturer honoured for their excellent performance in the year 2006.
In the presence of 500 invited guests, including top managers of the automotive industry, Dr. Veit Wagner, Vice-president of the REHAU Group, attended by Gerhard Riedhammer, Member of the Group Executive Board and Head of the Automotive Business Unit at REHAU, and Frank Schellenberg, Head of the Sales Office Auto Stuttgart, received the award from Frank W. Deiss, Vice-president and Head of Procurement of the Mercedes Car Group and Vans, in Detroit. “With regard to the development of innovative concepts in automotive design, REHAU has repeatedly proved to be a creative partner” said Deiss. In his accolade, the Head of Procurement of the Mercedes Car Group particularly stressed the proactive provision of new concepts and optimised methods by the automotive industry supplier.
Dr. Veit Wagner was visibly proud: “This prize is a special honour for our company and a great acknowledgement of our performance”. The Vice-president assured that REHAU is enjoying success, but has no plans to rest on it. “Our daily business will continue uninterrupted.”
There is a great deal to do: the internationally active polymer processor manufactures at a total of eleven locations world-wide for DaimlerChrysler, both for the Mercedes Car Group and for the Chrysler Group. Its products and systems are in nearly all models of the renowned automotive brand – from the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the E-class to the new C-class. Many employees in different divisions make their daily contributions, on business visits, at the desk or at the production line to ensure that customers such as DaimlerChrysler receive only the best results. “This honour of the Global Supplier Award belongs to every single employee who has and continues to contribute at his workplace to the success of the DaimlerChrysler projects” said sales office head Schellenberg. In this relation the production teams, who set new standards again and again with the quality of their work, the logistics experts, who do the impossible, the performance of the Business Unit Bumpers and Exterior, and the employees of the entire business unit Automotive deserve a special mention.
Their head, Gerhard Riedhammer, also passed on the compliments of the customer to his team. “We can rightly be proud of this top award. This success should encourage us always to do our best to achieve the high standards of our customers and to accept new challenges.”
To be nominated for the Global Supplier Awards, suppliers must have an order volume of at least three million Euros in different DaimlerChrysler business sectors. More than 175 suppliers world-wide fulfilled this requirement. In 2006, the automotive manufacturer presented awards in six categories. The relevant value contributions of quality, technology, costs and logistics were the decisive criteria in the decisions to present the Global Supplier Award. Apart from REHAU (Exterior), awards were also made to: Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (Electrical/Electronic), Seton Company (Interior), Cooper-Standard Automotive (Assemblies), Kuka Schweißanlagen Group (Production Equipment & Services) and Mediterranean Shipping Company (Logistics).
